Styling the New West

Style WYO Journal

Brunch Photo Shoot in Jackson Hole with Lady in the Wild West Bakery.

Recently, we styled and photographed a brunch for a client at a scenic mountain modern home in East Jackson Hole. Styled and staged by Styling the New West, it included STNW's very own Prairie Sage Mimosa's, Katherine's Westbank Strata, Savory Easy Arugula Salad and Ridgeline Spicy Nuts.  The wowza hit of the party was @LadyintheWildWest baking us a delictable Blueberry Buttermilk Pancake Cake with a layered cinnamon whipped crème on the inside frosted with a Maple Buttercreme brimming with fresh blueberries.   More than DELICIOUS btw and PERFECT to add into our brunch menu.  Photographed by @lindleyrustphoto.

Buttermilk Pancake Cake with Cinnamon Whipped Crème Frosted with Maple Buttercreme by Lady in the Wild West.

The spring brunch scene was styled by Styling the New West and included many breakfast items but the eye-drawing pinnacle was the Blueberry Buttermilk Pancake Cake with a Cinnamon Whipped Crème and frosted with a Maple Buttercreme. Wowza.  It not only photographed perfectly but as we cut into the cake, it was moist and dense filled with blueberries and so many savory flavors.  The girls know how to bake and present.  Down the line, the recipe will be featured in STNW's book so you too can make this fancy pants dessert.

A little bit about these ladies...

These two lady bakers, Lindsey Johnson and Lauren Gurney, share the sweet side of mountain living with artfully crafted cakes, cupcakes, custom desserts and artisan chocolates.  Nestled under the Grand Tetons, they bring the J-Hole vibe to the table.   Both ladies come overly accredited with Lindsey blogging and having an interior designer background and Lauren rocking as a master baker and certified chocolatier, NOT TO MENTION she also serves as the only female National Guard Aeromedical Evacuation Pilot in our wild, wild state of Wyoming.  Lauren's western roots run deep as part of the historical Dornan family and culinary roots from her Swiss father who is a chef as well.  They are both a delight to work with and make styling fun with their gorgeous and creative creations.

Cake Styling Tips

The cake was presented on a Wood and Metal cake stand from @HearthandHandwithMagnolia.  You can find these at Target for about $35.00.  It has a rustic galvanized feel and a retro glass lid which lends itself adorably to our mountain town of Jackson Hole.
